Quick Summary of the First General Session from the PCA WIC Leadership Training

There are 5,000+ words and lots o’ photos waiting for you in the replay of my LiveBlog from the first general session. I encourage you to check them out and also to check out the PCA Bookstore in the coming months to watch for a recording of the teaching because Ms. Paula Miles was excellent. She did a fantastic job of summarizing covenantal theology and she was (hooray!) preachin’ it to us ladies. It was GREAT.

Let me tempt you to click through to the replay with just a few quotes from the session:

Jane Patete, CE&P Women’s Ministries Coordinator: “We are thrilled that God brought you here; most importantly we are excited that you value the purposes of this conference. We come as women in the church that are connected to local churches; loved by the Father, called by His Spirit, redeemed by His Son; our former hearts of stone have been turned into flesh; we come as His Body, people, family, treasured possessions; called to reflect his glory and his purposes. We come under the banner of biblical leadership: thinking biblically and living covenantally.”

Jane Wiggins, WASC Chairman: “Those who know God have great contentment in God. This is one of our greatest challenges. Over the next few days, you are going to hear a lot of “success stories.” The temptation is to feel discouraged. But we must trust that God is sovereign and He works in ways we may not understand in time frames we may not desire. But as we trust in Him, we will find ourselves content to be in the leadership positions, the specific ministries He has placed us in; He has placed us for such a time as this.”

Paula Miles, Women’s Ministry Trainer: “As God’s children, we live in a fallen world. Cancer. Sickness. Difficult and broken relationships. Messy financial situations.

We are not free from the effects of the fall; but the thing that distinguishes us from the rest of the world is that our God has covenanted that he will never leave us and never forsake us. His presence gives us the power to persevere and respond to every situation and every circumstance in a Christ-like manner.”

I could go on and on, but I need to scoot. So I’ll close with just a few photos of the women I’ve met so that I can give a little shout out to their friends, hubbies, kiddos and grand-kiddos back home:

Hi, Tree, Chris, Theresa & Melissa (and see you in September!)

Hello to Lorraine, Mary Carole & Debbie! (I really hope you send me your stuff, Lorraine. I KNOW I would learn a TON from you!)

Thanks for facilitating such God-centered worship, Karen & Connie!

I’ll hopefully be liveblogging again this evening—
