Redemptive Relationships

Friend – Prayer Group FOLLOW-UP

Nancy asked some great questions in a comment:

“Where do you meet with this group? Just curious…homes? restaurants? and how long do the meetings last? Who takes care of the kids?”

I wish I had thought to answer them in the first post! 🙂

Here are my responses:

– We meet in a home—often the home of the mother with a newborn/young kids, but not always. The very, very first time my very, very first friend-prayer group met (ten years ago!), we met in a restaurant ONCE and then in a private home from then on:

– We usually meet for around 90 minutes, but sometimes shorter, sometimes longer. Depends on the flexibility level of the group. (Yesterday we completely lost track of time and were there for over two hours! Fred called me to make sure I hadn’t been in a car accident or something. Whoops!)

– We usually meet early morning (very hard for some!) so that kiddos are taken care of by dads until we get home / come up from the basement to take over childcare.

Great questions, Nancy! Thanks!

Hope you all have a wonderful day—

Your friend,
Tara B.

PS
Amy A. just asked ANOTHER great question in a comment, so here’s an update …

Q: “I’d love to know more too, T. Sounds GREAT. What is your routine? Length of time, how you pray, share…guidelines or freeflowing?”

A: No routine or guidelines, so I guess we’re freeflowing. If one person is really hurting or in crisis or rejoicing over something really wonderful, I think we all instinctively give her more time. But in general, we’re all aware of whether everyone has gotten to share and we try to make sure everyone has time each week. Lots of back and forth. Many tears! Many guffaws laughing together. Bearing of burdens. Enjoying celebrations. Just doing life together. I think friend-prayer group is one of the greatest evidences of God’s grace in my entire Christian life story.
