    Perils of Digital Technology

Yowza. This article (by an M.I.T. professor) is a must read if you want to have any sort of real (loving, gospel-encouraging, Titus 2-ing) relationships with the next generation. (Or. For me, with the next generation and the next NEXT generation.) The Perils of Digital Technology This is a subject I have added to my new retreat (Titus 2 in a 21st Century World) and one that I think is essential for all of us to think deeply and prayerfully about. (I have some other posts on this topic under my Teens and Young Adults category if you’re interested in reading other articles and book recommendations on technology. I hope…

Please Oh Please Help Me with this Graphics Decision (I’m SO verbal and so NOT visual!)

OK. We’re at a decision-point on these promotional materials for my new-new retreat (“Titus 2 in a 21st Century World”). I’ve heard from a handful of you already, but for the other 800 of you who are reading this right now, would you pretty-pretty-pretty-please UN-LURK yourselves and weigh in? (Hey! Weigh in! It’s like I’m tying it to my post from yesterday. 🙂 ) Here is sample A: And here is sample B:   Oh, and if you don’t feel comfortable leaving a comment, you are welcome (invited!) to email me directly. Thanks, friends! Happy Tuesday! — Tara B.

    Titus 2 in a 21st Century World ™

Thanks to the brilliant Lyndsay over at The Shabby Suite, I may have a new “look” for my (rolling out in 2012!) new retreat. Here are the first two iterations we’re working with: Before we create all of the docs I send to all of my event hosts (handout cover sheet, bookmarks, posters, postcards, thank you notes, etc.), I’d love to hear YOUR thoughts. If you don’t feel comfortable commenting publicly, you’re always welcome to email me directly.   Thanks in advance for your counsel! Blessings, Tara B.

Letter to an Incomplete, Insecure Teenager (from John Piper)

Europeanne (formerly known as “PalmTreePundit”) posted a link on FaceBook that I encourage you all to read: Letter to an Incomplete, Insecure Teenager (by John Piper) It is excellent! So real and gritty and honest; and yet, so hope-filled. It’s going in my “keeper file” for sure. Thanks, Anne! So happy you are settling into your new home! Love to you and Charlie and the kiddos—who aren’t really kiddos any more …   Your friend, Tara B.

    E – Living—Online Life and Long-Distance E – Relationships

Yet again, the young women in our summer “True Woman Teen Discussion Course” (Sunday school class) are knocking me over with their sincerity, intellect, love and faith. Being around them makes me want to be around Jesus more! And I have to say that’s just about the best commendation I can give of any person. This past week, the title and subtitle of our class were: E-Living—Online Life and Long-Distance E-Relationships What is wise and appropriate re: Facebook, Twitter, relationships via cell-phone/texting/email etc. I started the handouts with a quote from Tim Challies from a book that I highly recommend: ‘Never before in human history have people lived their lives…

    Sinners Tend to be Hiders

Just re-read Paul Tripp’s, Age of Opportunity and took pages of new notes. But here’s the one quote that is digging deep into my  heart this morning: “Sinners tend to be hiders.” Oh, man. Isn’t that the truth! And it has nothing to do with being a teenager …
