Advanced Retreat?? PLEASE Share Your Wisdom

OK, OK — better to post this on our discussion board … but since it’s not live YET …

🙂

Would you please share your wisdom with me?

I’ve received a few requests for a FOLLOW-UP (or second) RETREAT … That is, churches or ministries have had me out for my “standard” women’s retreat (see Speaking Events for more details) and THEN they are interested in inviting me back.

(Super fun! What an honor!)

Here’s the scoop … I’m trying to figure out what a “follow-up” or “second” or “advanced” retreat might look like. I have some ideas, but I’m thinking that it will take some serious prayer and thinking and brainstorming with friends like YOU to figure out the details …

SO …

What do you think? What would YOU include on a “second” Tara Retreat?

My initial thoughts are:

1. The “first” (or “basic”) teachings on suffering and God’s sovereignty, biblical peaceamking, and the idols of the heart are SO foundational, that MAYBE I should have some sort of “dual track” system where women who haven’t been to the first retreat can hear the first teaching (and those who have can have a “refresher” too).

2. Women have lots of idols! Every event now I’m talking with women (just like me) who struggle with food as an idol … but ALSO issues of alcohol, credit card debt, sexual fantasy, etc. etc. I’m wondering about some sort of “practical application” of the idols teaching.

3. Miserable Christian Marriages! They’re everywhere. At every event. My teaching last week on, “How Can I Submit When I Know He is Wrong” only confirmed it.) What do you think? A special track for this topic?

4. Bitterness. Anger. Rage. These three seem common in our hearts. A special focus at a “second” retreat?

5. REAL relationships. Friendship. Covenantal relationship. Instead of judgmentalism; gossip & slander; critical and condemning attidues. Another track? Teaching?

6??? & & 7???? & 8???????? — What do you think???? What would be MOST helpful to women????

THANKS in advance for letting me know your counsel!

Sending you my love —

Your pal,
Tara B.
