Would you like a FREE retreat for your women?

So … I’ve never done this before, but I’m thinkin’ I’m going to jump in this year and do my first official mileage run. (In a nutshell—and nutty might be a great descriptor! 😉 —this means that I am going to book myself an airline ticket for the express purpose of earning frequent flyer miles.) I need to actually fly ** UPDATED 3,300 2,821 ** air miles on Delta by December 31 and I was thinkin’ that maybe one of you blog readers / Twitter-ers / or FaceBook friends would like to schedule a little one-night women’s event/discussion for absolutely NO COST to you (other than a ride to/from the…

All 256 Pages Done! Thanks be to God!

Cap’n Dave and I worked from 7AM – 12noon and finished ALL of the edits for the galleys of our book. Yup. All 256 pages of ol’ Redeeming Church Conflicts have now wrapped. And we’re even available on Amazon.com for pre-order. Yowza! It looks like this project really is going to come to fruition. Thanks be to God! And to the world’s most patient, gracious, brilliant co-author (!). I was blessed to even be along for the ride re: pulling out Dave’s wisdom and experience conciliating in every size, type, denomination, non-denomination, urban, rural, tiny, huge conflicted church you could ever imagine. Man! That guy has some great stories. How…

    Permission to Feel Badly

RZIM’s e-devotional, Slice of Infinity, continues to be the only one I receive weekly and I am always glad that I do. What a team they have! What profound insights they share! I truly urge you to sign up for this resource. I have never received SPAM or even donation requests from them—they even have my REAL email address (not my SPAM/junk email address) and all it’s ever been used for is this devotional. Anyway … I didn’t mean for this post to be an advertisement for RZIM. I really just wanted to encourage you all to read Margaret Manning’s lovely (deep, comforting, real) essay over in the archives from…

Quotes of Note and Links from Bob Kellemen’s Seminar on Anxiety

Thank you, Dr. Kellemen, for posting your “quotes of notes” and links from your session! What a blessing: The Anatomy of Anxiety (And thanks for the kind words on Twitter (#ccefcon) too. I actually wanted to send you a note on Twitter last night to say thank you … but I am still such a novice re: Twitter that I don’t know how! Like calculus in my MBA program wherein my husband coached me on “HOW to take a derivative” without understanding “WHAT a derivative IS” (not having had math since my sophomore year of HIGH SCHOOL, I still have no idea what a derivative is) … I tweet. I…

Are you anxious? Cling to God and God’s people!

Thank you Bob Kellemen for a powerful workshop on anxiety! Thanks, especially, for being the most Scripture-soaked, practical session that I have attended at this conference so far. I was cheering you on as you served us all. Thank you again! Just a few highlights (most are on Twitter at #ccefcon): “We need a more robust, relational approach–a relational discipleship process–not an exhortational event.” “Anxiety is vigilance minus faith in God … anxiety stalks and faith wrestles.” “Are you anxious? Cling to God and God’s people.” “The one-anothering verses of Scripture = our dear friend, we have your back.”   “We are not meant to handle our struggles alone.” “Feel…

Words to Live by Radio Interview

Oh! I completely forgot that my “Words to Live by” radio interview was airing this weekend. I think it’s still available online here: Tara’s Story This is a bittersweet thing for me because our beloved friend, Kirk Thornburg, also recorded his testimony that same week … and then he was killed in a car crash a few months later. (I wish I could find a link to THAT broadcast! It would be so wonderful to hear him again.) Hope your night is a restful one!   G’nite and God bless, Tara B.
